The Athena Project

Young Women’s Empowerment

The Athena Project was named after Athene the revered Greek goddess who embodies the essence of female empowerment through her profound attributes of strength, wisdom, and courage. Often portrayed as a warrior and a strategist, she defies traditional gender roles, demonstrating that women can be both nurturing and powerful. Her duality is reflected in her association with wisdom and craft, showcasing that intellectual prowess and creativity are as vital as physical strength. As the patron goddess of cities like Athens, she symbolizes the potential for women to lead and inspire, fostering civilisation, law, and justice.

Athena’s emergence from Zeus, fully grown and armored, signifies a birth of strength and independence, challenging societal norms of femininity. Her role as a companion to heroes further highlights the importance of collaboration and support among women, encouraging them to be courageous in their pursuits. In essence, Athena stands as a timeless symbol of empowerment, urging women to embrace their inner strength, wisdom, and compassion as they navigate their own heroic journeys.

The Project

In response to the unique challenges facing young women today, TTC if funded has the ability to introduce a dedicated program aimed at empowering girls and young women aged 12-19.

This initiative will still follow the bones of TTC philosophy for developing well-rounded individuals through a blend of physical and life skills training. As always participants engage in strength, fitness, and martial arts training, which serve as foundational elements of the program. Alongside this, students are taught vital life skills, motivational tools, and principles of respect and traditional femininity, emphasising the importance of compassion, protection, provision, and leadership with their families. By opening up to a sense of responsibility and instilling core values, the program ultimately aims to cultivate remarkable young women, equipped with both the practical skills and the moral courage to succeed in life. This program will encompass a holistic curriculum that will also include:

Participants will learn the basics of personal grooming and makeup application, boosting their self-esteem and personal expression.
